If you own a 2001-’02 Ford Escape, be aware that a Ford Escape Recall is in the works and park your vehicle outside until it is fixed. On January 11, 2011, Ford Escape Recall is recalling certain model year 2001-2002 Escape vehicles manufactured from October 22, 1999, through July 19, 2002, equipped with a brake master cylinder reservoir cap that could leak brake fluid. In this Ford Escape Recall, Ford explain if brake fluid leaks from the cap, it could come in contact with the antilock brake system (abs) module wiring harness connector. Corrosion can develop in the electrical connector leading to melting, smoke or a fire.
In the case of Ford Escape Recall, dealers will replace the brake master cylinder reservoir cap and the abs electrical system will be modified. Ford expects to notify owners about this Ford Escape Recall starting the week of January 23, 2012. If your car is on the Ford Escape Recall list you may be able to have it fixed free of charge. This Ford Escape Recall campaign is related to 07v-156, Ford’s safety recall number is 11s24. In case of Ford Escape Recall, owners may also contact the national highway traffic safety administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (tty 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.Safercar.Gov.
“There have been no reports of accidents or injuries. We have identified a repair, and owners of affected vehicles will be notified soon,” said Ford spokeswoman Kristen Kinley about the Ford Escape Recall. The company said the Ford Escape Recall list would address missing or incorrectly installed seals on the wiring harness of the antilock brake connector.
Ford dealers will replace the brake master cylinder reservoir cap and the ABS electrical system will be modified. The Ford Escape Recall is expected to begin on January 23, but Ford says due to a parts delay, the remedy may not be available at that time. “If parts are not available, Ford will instruct owners to park their vehicles outside until such time as parts become available,” said NHTSA.
This Ford Escape Recall is not the first time. In Ford Escape Recalls 2007, the Ford Motor Co. said it was recalling more than 500,000 Ford Escape sport utility vehicles after receiving reports of engine fires linked to corrosion on antilock brake connectors. Ford said the Ford Escape Recall involved 444,880 Escapes from the 2001-2004 model years in the United States, and about 75,000 Escapes in Canada, Mexico and Europe.
The Ford Escape Recall does not affect hybrid versions of the SUV, the automaker said. Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford said there have been about 50 engine fires connected to the problems which lead to the Ford Escape Recall, which had been under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In the Ford Escape Recalls 2010, the Ford Motor Co. is recalling 6,164 Escape hybrid sport utility vehicles from 2006 model year because a drivetrain shaft may fracture, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. As the effects of the Ford Escape Recall, Ford is also recalling 6,164 Escape hybrid sport utility vehicles from 2006 model year because a drivetrain shaft may fracture. In the Ford Escape Recall, Ford explain that if a fracture occurred, it could cause the vehicle to move, even in the park position.
